Meditation has become something in my life that I absolutely love to do. I started meditating in high school because I would get really stressed out and have a tough time falling asleep at night, so clearing my head and focusing on my breathing really helped me calm down. Still today, there is never a second where my mind sits still… until I sit down to meditate for a few minutes. The goal here isn’t necessarily to help one think more clearly, or to get rest. I do it to center my energy and my nerves and just have some peace every once in a while. Others may do it to just zone out of their everyday routine. But I find that it soothes my anxieties, and it even helps me with some decision making!

There are several forms of meditation too. It doesn’t have to be: sit down, turn off the lights, cross your legs and deep breath. Writing in a journal, praying, going for a run or a swim, doing yoga… Really anything that can get your mind to center and relax. It’s proven to lower stress levels, which in turn can prevent heart problems, hair loss, depression, fatigue…. THUS. Meditation is good for you, I promise!

I just wanted to share my thoughts on meditation with you all today in hopes that it could maybe be that spark of “this is what I need in life”. I can only hope that my words and actions inspire those who need it, so maybe one of you out there reading this blog will find that meditation is that one activity you need to pick up that will change your life.
