Maui, Here I Come!

Aloha babes! Quick life update: Tomorrow I start my Hawaiian journey. My flight goes from Indy, to Chicago, then straight to Honolulu. The kicker is that I will all by myself. I have been asked several questions about this upcoming trip, so let me just give you all a quick synopsis.

First of all, I will be in Hawaii for two weeks to fulfill 50-60 internship hours of the 150 that are required for me to graduate. My internship will be through a really nice lady (Ellena) that my mom knows from when she went to college at the University of Hawaii! I will be doing a little bit for her wedding planning company which includes making flower leis and designing table arrangements. I will also be helping out with the tourism and marketing for the vacation cabins called Nona Lani Cottages that are run by her family. In addition, I will be involved with cultural events and as well as some real-estate work such as showing houses in Maui.  Although it is unpaid internship, I will receive room and board.

Second, I want to make it clear that I am going to be on Maui which is NOT going through any of that Volcano stuff like the big island is. So I will be safe from hot lava, don’t worry.

And last, I wanted to write up a quick to-do list for when I get there. As you can probably imagine, I have a lot of goals. Here is my Maui Bucket List:

  • Learn to Surf
  • Go to Haleakala Crater
  • Do some beach yoga 🙂
  • Find a Starfish! (This is a general bucket list item.)
  • Explore the Road to Hana
    • this also involves seeing the famous rainbow eucalyptus tree
  • Go snorkeling! Apparently Maui has some of the best places to snorkel in Hawaii.
  • Go to a Luau of course!

I am so so excited to explore this part of our country. Catch you on the mainland friends! I’ll be leaving my worries behind (but I’ll be taking my school work with me because I am still in the middle of two summer classes.) I plan on publishing several more blog posts while I’m there! Here’s to doing an internship in Sienna Sky style…

A hui hou, or, until we meet again!
